Pulling the Plug

A big event has happened around here over the last few days.

We officially said goodbye to Marley's pacifier.  I'm sure some of you are rolling your eyes right now, but it was a big deal to me and a big deal for her.

She's had that thing since she was brand spankin' new at the hospital.  As you can see, she had a healthy attachment to it even then.








Post-birthday party crash.

We've been gradually weaning her, first down to just naps and bedtime, and then to just bedtime.  Yesterday, we collected them all, put them in a little bag and passed them onto her new baby cousin after many talks about how babies need pacifiers and big girls don't.  

Last night was her first night without it and she went to sleep with no problem, woke up twice for some snuggles, and was a happy girl in the morning.  She got a little present for making it through the night and that was that.  Hopefully tonight goes just as smoothly (famous last words...).
 
We are heading toward potty training and transitioning her to a big bed soon too...all of these  milestones make me happy & sad at the same time.  I'm so excited for all the things we can do now that she's getting older, but sad that the first two years with her are over.  I feel like the days are flying by me faster than I even realize and it scares the crap out of me. 
 
On that happy note, here is Marley's last picture with her beloved paci...I'm proud of you, sweet girl!

  2. Wow, good for you! I'm so hesitant to do this and ruin his sleep; he only uses it for nap and nighttime. Same thing for transitioning to a big- boy bed, maybe I'm the one that's not ready ;)
