We're a bit sad and worried around here today.  Kody (our golden retriever) has had 5 seizures in the last 36 hours.  I took him to the vet yesterday and they are doing bloodwork.  We started him on anti-seizure meds yesterday, but they take a few days to kick in and they haven't stopped the seizures yet.  The seizures are awful to watch and I'm trying to take care of the babies while in constant fear that he's going to have another one.  The phenobarbital that they gave him makes him completely out of it and he's having trouble walking and picking up his feet..

The doctor should be calling today to tell us if the bloodwork showed anything.  If it didn't, then the next step would be taking him to see a neurologist to do an MRI and a scan to check for brain tumors...probably not an option.  Once he adjusts to the meds, he might be just fine taking them everyday (along with his thyroid medication) and live more happy years...that's obviously our hope.  He'll be 10 next month and he's a big dog, but I wasn't expecting this so soon :(
